In the area of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, there is only one educational board for matric and intermediate level education which is the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Azad Jammu & Kashmir. BISE AJK has the authority to conduct matric and inter level exams in the whole area of AJK while all the public and private schools and colleges in AJK are affiliated with AJ Board for SSC and HSSC level education. Every year, thousands of regular and private students of AJK participate in the BISE AJK SSC annual exams and BISE AJK HSSC annual exams. AJK Board organizes the 9th class annual exams and 10th class annual exams during the months of March and April while 11th class annual exams and 12th class annual exams are organized by the board during the months of May and June.
